With a Hire Purchase agreement, you pay all the VAT due upfront as a deposit.
With a Lease agreement, you pay VAT monthly on the lease payments as they fall due.

With a Hire Purchase agreement, you pay an option to purchase fee at the end of the agreement to own the equipment.
With a Lease agreement, you can gain ownership of the equipment for, generally, one additional rental.
